Dermatial

Dermatial is a medical device for daily care of skin with mild seborrheic dermatitis. It is applied directly on the skin and has a local effect.

Dermatitis (also know as eczema) is an inflammatory skin disease typically characterized by skin rashes which can be caused by inflammation or allergies (contact allergies)

Symptoms can vary in intensity, from mild rashes to painful blisters. There are several types of dermatitis known. The types include, but are not limited to, Atopic and Contact dermatitis, the most common two, followed by Seborrheic and Dyshidrotic dermatitis.

Seborrheic dermatitis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by tiny white or yellowish flakes that most commonly affect oily areas of the body, such as the face, ears, scalp or chest. Flakes, which are usually accompanied by redness and skin cells (stratum corneum), which are formed if the process of skin cell regeneration is shortened. Increased secretion of sebum can additionally create a suitable for fungi (Malassezia spp) growth, which are otherwise a part of the normal skin microbiota.

Risk factors for condition worsening are winter months, excessive physical or emotional stress, hormonal changes, inadequate nutrition and skin care, weakening or the immune system or after some neurological conditions.

Main ingredients

Dermatial main ingredients are microencapsulated urea (4%) and subtilisin (0.5%)

Urea

is formed in the human body as a final product of the protein metabolism. Due to its hygroscopic properties, it can attract and bind a large amount of water in the upper layers of the skin and thus increases hydration.
Since urea can have irritating effect (causing redness, burning sensation) when applied at higher concentrations and directly on the skin, microencapsulation technology has been used to prepare Dermatial. Microencapsulation is a process used to entrap active compound (core) with another compound by forming a wall around it. This acts like a barrier between the core and external environment (skin) causing slower release of urea from the formulation.

Subtilisin

gives the gentle exfoliating feeling, cleanses the skin by removing damaged and dead skin cells from its surfaces, excess sebum, and impurities from the pores.
