Acnoral

Acnoral is a medical device for daily use of combination to oily skin and acne prone skin. It is applied directly on the skin and has a local effect.

Acne (acne vulgaris) is a chronic, inflammatory skin condition that most commonly occurs during puberty, but can be present at other stages of life.

The formation of acne can be induced by certain medications, aggressive cleaning agents, inappropriate (greasy) cosmetics, unhealthy lifestyle and food, emotional stress or genetic predisposition.

The most common trigger are the hormones, which can directly affect the sebaceous glands and cause its increased activity. Sebaceous glands begin to secrete more sebum that is needed for normal skin moisture and suppleness.

The excess than begins to accumulate in the deeper layers of the skin, forming plugs that block sebum from reaching the skin surface through the hair follicles. The follicle wall can bugle and comedones are formed. Clogged sebaceous glands are and ideal for growth of bacteria which are otherwise normally present as part of the skin flora.

Main ingredients

Acnoral main ingredients are azelaic acid (5%), lactic acid (1%), salicylic acid (1%), microencapsulated urea (4%) and subtilisin (0,5%)

Azelaic acid

is a naturally occurring acid on human skin as a part of the normal skin microbiota. It has anti-inflammatory, comedolytic and antioxidant effects. At lower concentrations its effect is mainly keratolytic, it accelerates the natural process of exfoliation of dead skin cells that accumulate in the pores (and consequently clog them)

Lactic acid

also known as AHA acids (alpha-hydroxy-acids), has an exfoliating effects on the skin, removes dead skin cells of the epidermis and moisturizes it

Salicylic acid

also known as BHA acids (beta-hydroxy-acid). Due to its lipophilic properties - ability to dissolve in oil and fats, salicylic acid can penetrate deeper in the skin layers that have lipid membranes and bind to sebum. It has comedolytic (inhibits the formation of comedones), keratolytic effect and reduces the formation of sebum

Urea

is formed in the human body as a final product of the protein metabolism. Due to its hygroscopic properties, it can attract and bind a large amount of water in the upper layers of the skin and thus increases hydration.
Since urea can have irritating effect (causing redness, burning sensation) when applied at higher concentrations and directly on the skin, microencapsulation technology has been used to prepare Dermatial. Microencapsulation is a process used to entrap active compound (core) with another compound by forming a wall around it. This acts like a barrier between the core and external environment (skin) causing slower release of urea from the formulation.

Subtilisin

gives the gentle exfoliating feeling, cleanses the skin by removing damaged and dead skin cells from its surfaces, excess sebum, and impurities from the pores.
